My ex-boyfriend works at a used bookstore (used book store?), San Francisco's Dog Eared Books. One of his favorite things there, other than getting to lead children's story hour every week, is seeing the inscriptions that come in on some of the books they buy. Theoretically this was his page, and I was just designing it for him, but he never sent me any information other than pictures of the books. I'm pretty excited about the layout, though.

I started writing the code for the hover (on the individual book pages) on my own, but got stumped on it just a tiny bit. I searched around to see if anyone had done something similar to what I was looking for, and I found the code for the Hoverbox Image Gallery - you can see the designer's example page here. I tinkered with (cannibalized) it a bit, and am now really happy with what I ended up with. This was one of those times where I broke down my original design plan in order to make the navigation better, but I still am very happy with what I came up with. I'm not sure how I feel about the text being covered by the images - I either love it or hate it - but I think it really comes down to how the person who consigned the page (eventually) feels about it.
